BNS Section 246 — Dishonestly making false claim in Court

Summary

Whoever, in a court, makes a claim that they know to be false, and does so fraudulently, dishonestly, or with the intent to injure or annoy any person, can be punished. The punishment is imprisonment of either kind (simple or rigorous) for up to two years, and they will also be liable to pay a fine.

Official Text

Whoever fraudulently or dishonestly, or with intent to injure or annoy any person, makes in a Court any claim which he knows to be false, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to two years, and shall also be liable to fine.
