BNS Section 266 — Violation of condition of remission of punishment

Summary

A person who has been released early from punishment on the condition that they follow certain rules, and who knowingly breaks any of those conditions, will face the punishment they were originally given. If they have not yet served any part of that original punishment, they must serve the entire punishment. If they have already served part of it, they must serve only the remaining part that they have not yet served.

Official Text

Whoever, having accepted any conditional remission of punishment, knowingly violates any condition on which such remission was granted, shall be punished with the punishment to which he was originally sentenced, if he has already suffered no part of that punishment, and if he has suffered any part of that punishment, then with so much of that punishment as he has not already suffered.
