As the section puts it: “shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine, or with both”

Summary

Whoever intentionally disturbs an assembly that is lawfully carrying out religious worship or religious ceremonies can be punished. The punishment may be imprisonment of either kind for up to one year, or a fine, or both.

Whoever voluntarily causes disturbance to any assembly lawfully engaged in the performance of religious worship, or religious ceremonies, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine, or with both.
