Summary

Whoever assaults or uses criminal force against a woman, with the intention of outraging her modesty, or knowing that it is likely that his actions will outrage her modesty, commits an offence under this section. The punishment for this offence is imprisonment of either kind (simple or rigorous) for a term that must be at least one year, but can be up to five years, and the offender is also liable to pay a fine.

Whoever assaults or uses criminal force to any woman, intending to outrage or knowing it to be likely that he will thereby outrage her modesty, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which shall not be less than one year but which may extend to five years, and shall also be liable to fine.
