BNSS Section 317 — Interpreter to be bound to interpret truthfully

Summary

When a criminal court needs an interpreter to translate any evidence or statement, that interpreter must give a truthful and accurate translation of what is said. The interpreter is legally required to interpret correctly and not change the meaning.

Official Text

When the services of an interpreter are required by any Criminal Court for the interpretation of any evidence or statement, he shall be bound to state the true interpretation of such evidence or statement.
