BNSS Section 413 — No appeal to lie unless otherwise provided
CHAPTER XXXI APPEALS
Criminal
Summary
A person cannot appeal a criminal court's decision unless this Sanhita or another current law specifically allows it. However, a victim does have the right to appeal if the court acquits the accused, convicts them of a lesser crime, or orders compensation that the victim considers too low. That appeal must be filed in the court that would normally hear appeals from the court that made the original decision.
Official Text
No appeal shall lie from any judgment or order of a Criminal Court except as provided for by this Sanhita or by any other law for the time being in force:
Provided that the victim shall have a right to prefer an appeal against any order passed by the Court acquitting the accused or convicting for a lesser offence or imposing inadequate compensation, and such appeal shall lie to the Court to which an appeal ordinarily lies against the order of conviction of such Court.
