CHAPTER I PRELIMINARY

General

Summary

This section means that the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita does not override any special or local laws that are already in effect, unless it specifically says so. It also does not change any special powers, authority, or court procedures that are set out in other existing laws. So, if another law has its own rules, those rules will continue to apply as usual.

Official Text

Nothing contained in this Sanhita shall, in the absence of a specific provision to the contrary, affect any special or local law for the time being in force, or any special jurisdiction or power conferred, or any special form of procedure prescribed, by any other law for the time being in force.
