BNSS Section 73 — Power to direct security to be taken
CHAPTER VI PROCESSES TO COMPEL APPEARANCE — B.—Warrant of arrest
Criminal
Summary
A court that issues an arrest warrant can choose to add a note on the warrant. This note tells the police officer that if the person named in the warrant provides a bail bond with enough sureties promising to appear in court at a set time, the officer should take that security and release the person from custody. The note must state how many sureties are needed, the amount of money the person and the sureties must promise to pay, and the exact time the person must appear in court. Once the officer takes the security, they must send the bail bond to the court.
