CPC Section 148A. — Right to lodge a caveat
Civil
Summary
If you expect someone to file an application in a court case, or if such an application has already been filed, you can file a caveat to protect your right to be heard. Once you file a caveat, you must send a notice of it by registered post to the person who filed or is expected to file the application. After a caveat is filed, the court must notify you if any application is later made in the case. The person who filed the application must then give you a copy of their application and any supporting documents, but you have to pay for those copies. A caveat automatically expires after 90 days unless the expected application is actually filed within that time.
