Summary

To start a lawsuit, you must file a written statement of your claim, called a plaint, or follow any other method that has been officially prescribed. Every plaint must include facts that are supported by a sworn written statement, known as an affidavit, which must be prepared in the specific format and way required by Order VI, Rule 15A.

Official Text

(1) Every suit shall be instituted by the presentation of a plaint or in such other manner as may be prescribed.

(2) In every plaint, facts shall be proved by affidavit. *Provided that such an affidavit shall be in the form and manner as prescribed under Order VI of Rule 15A.
