CPC Section 56 — Prohibition of arrest or detention of women in execution of decree for money

A court cannot order a woman to be arrested or sent to civil prison for failing to pay a money decree. This protection applies even if other rules in this part of the law would normally allow such arrest or detention.

Official Text

Notwithstanding anything in this Part, the Court shall not order the arrest or detention in the civil prison of a woman in execution of a decree for the payment of money.
