Summary
Sub-section (1) requires every company to provide the Director Identification Number of all its directors to the Registrar, or to any other officer or authority specified by the Central Government, within fifteen days of receiving the intimation under section 156. This must be done with the prescribed fees, or with any additional fees as prescribed, and the intimation must be submitted in the form and manner that is prescribed.
Sub-section (2) states that if a company fails to provide the Director Identification Number as required under sub-section (1), the company will be liable to a penalty of twenty-five thousand rupees. If the failure continues, there is an additional penalty of one hundred rupees for each day after the first day of failure, up to a maximum of one lakh rupees. Additionally, every officer of the company who is in default will be liable to a penalty of not less than twenty-five thousand rupees, and if the failure continues, a further penalty of one hundred rupees for each day after the first day, also subject to a maximum of one lakh rupees.

(1) Every company shall, within fifteen days of the receipt of intimation under section 156, furnish the Director Identification Number of all its directors to the Registrar or any other officer or authority as may be specified by the Central Government with such fees as may be prescribed or with such additional fees as may be prescribed 2*** and every such intimation shall be furnished in such form and manner as may be prescribed. 3[
(2) If any company fails to furnish the Director Identification Number under sub-section (1), such company shall be liable to a penalty of twenty-five thousand rupees and in case of continuing failure, with a further penalty of one hundred rupees for each day after the first during which such failure continues, subject to a maximum of one lakh rupees, and every officer of the company who is in default shall be liable to a penalty of not less than twenty-five thousand rupees and in case of continuing failure, with a further penalty of one hundred rupees for each day after the first during which such failure continues, subject to a maximum of one lakh rupees.]
