Summary

This law is officially named the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955. It applies across the whole of India, and it also covers Hindus who live outside India but are legally considered domiciled in India.

Official Text

(1) This Act may be called the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955.

(2) It extends to the whole of India 2***, and applies also to Hindus domiciled in the territories to which this Act extends who are outside the said territories.
