Summary

This law is officially named the Indian Penal Code. It applies across the entire country of India, with the exception of the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

Official Text

This Act shall be called the Indian Penal Code, and shall extend to the whole of India except the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
