Summary
If a person attacks someone or uses physical force against them, and the attack was not caused by a serious and immediate provocation from the other person, then that person can be punished. The punishment can be imprisonment for up to three months, or a fine of up to five hundred rupees, or both.

Whoever assaults or uses criminal force to any person otherwise than on grave and sudden provocation given by that person, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three months, or with fine which may extend to five hundred rupees, or with both.
