Summary

If a person creates a fake document or electronic record with the intention of using it to cheat someone, this law applies. The punishment for this offence can be imprisonment for up to seven years, along with a fine. The court can decide the type of imprisonment and the amount of the fine.

Official Text

Whoever commits forgery, intending that the document or electronic record forged shall be used for the purpose of cheating, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to seven years, and shall also be liable to fine.
