Summary

Whenever the law uses the word "year" or "month," it means the year or month as counted in the British (Gregorian) calendar. This is the standard calendar commonly used in India.

Wherever the word “year” or the word “month” is used, it is to be understood that the year or the month is to be reckoned according to the British calendar.
