IPC Section 5 — Certain laws not to be affected by this Act

Summary

This section says that the Indian Penal Code does not change or override any other laws that deal with punishing mutiny or desertion by military personnel, or any special or local laws. Those other laws will continue to apply as they are, even if they cover similar topics.

Official Text

Nothing in this Act shall affect the provisions of any Act for punishing mutiny and desertion of officers, soldiers, sailors or airmen in the service of the Government of India or the provision of any special or local law.
