Summary

In every case of bailment, the bailee must take care of the goods given to them just as carefully as a reasonably prudent person would take care of their own goods of the same size, quality, and value, under similar circumstances. This means the standard of care is based on what an ordinary sensible person would do with their own belongings of that kind, not on any special or extra level of care.

In all cases of bailment the bailee is bound to take as much care of the goods bailed to him as a man of ordinary prudence would, under similar circumstances, take of his own goods of the same bulk, quality and value as the goods bailed2.
