Summary

The bailee must return the bailed goods, or hand them over according to the bailor’s instructions, as soon as the agreed time period ends or the purpose of the bailment is completed. This duty applies automatically, without the bailor having to ask for the goods back.

It is the duty of the bailee to return, or deliver according to the bailor’s directions, the goods bailed, without demand, as soon as the time for which they were bailed has expired, or the purpose for which they were bailed has been accomplished.
