Indian Contract Act Section 167 — Right of third person claiming goods bailed

Summary

If someone other than the person who gave the goods for safekeeping (the bailor) claims that they own or have a right to those goods, that person can go to court. They can ask the court to order that the goods not be handed back to the bailor. The court will then decide who actually has the rightful claim to the goods.

If a person, other than the bailor, claims goods bailed he may apply to the Court to stop the delivery of the goods to the bailor, and to decide the title to the goods.
