Information Technology Act Section 26 — Notice of suspension or revocation of licence

CHAPTER VI REGULATION OF CERTIFYING AUTHORITIES

Cyber Law

Summary

Sub-section (1) covers what happens when a Certifying Authority's licence is suspended or revoked. In that situation, the Controller must publish a notice about the suspension or revocation in the database that the Controller maintains.

Sub-section (2) deals with cases where one or more repositories have been specified. Here, the Controller must publish the notices of suspension or revocation in all such repositories.

The first proviso to sub-section (2) states that the database containing the notice of suspension or revocation must be made available through a website that is accessible round the clock, meaning at all times.

The second proviso to sub-section (2) allows the Controller, if he considers it necessary, to publicise the contents of the database in electronic or other media that he thinks appropriate.
