Summary

Sub-section (1) says that a motor vehicle sold by an authorised dealer does not need to be brought before a registering authority for its first registration, but this is only allowed under the terms and conditions that the Central Government may prescribe.

Sub-section (2) says that a person whose name is on a certificate of registration does not have to produce the vehicle before a registering authority for registration or transfer, but this is also subject to the terms and conditions that the State Government may prescribe.

(1) Subject to such terms and conditions as may be prescribed by the Central Government in this behalf, a motor vehicle sold by an authorised dealer shall not require production before a registering authority for the purposes of registration for the first time.

(2) Subject to such terms and conditions as may be prescribed by the State Government, a person in whose name a certificate of registration has been issued shall not be required to produce the vehicle registered or transferred before a registering authority.]
