Motor Vehicles Act Section 5 — Responsibility of owners of motor vehicles for contravention of sections 3 and 4

Summary

An owner or person in charge of a motor vehicle must not cause or allow anyone who does not meet the requirements of section 3 or section 4 to drive that vehicle. In simple terms, if you own or are responsible for a vehicle, you cannot let someone drive it unless they are legally qualified to drive under those sections.

No owner or person in charge of a motor vehicle shall cause or permit any person who does not satisfy the provisions of section 3 or section 4 to drive the vehicle.
