Motor Vehicles Act Section 54 — Cancellation of registration suspended under section 53

CHAPTER IV REGISTRATION OF MOTOR VEHICLES

Civil

Summary

If a vehicle's registration has been suspended under section 53 without any break for at least six months, the registering authority that has jurisdiction over the area where the vehicle was located at the time of suspension can take action. If that authority is the original one that issued the registration, it may cancel the registration. If it is not the original registering authority, it must send the certificate of registration to the original authority, which may then cancel the registration.
