Summary
When deciding whether something was done within a reasonable time—such as presenting a cheque or bill for payment, giving notice that it was not honoured, or noting its dishonour—the law looks at the type of instrument involved and how similar instruments are normally handled. When counting that time, public holidays are not included in the calculation.

In determining what is a reasonable time for presentment for acceptance or payment, for giving notice of dishonour and for noting, regard shall be had to the nature of the instrument and the usual course of dealing with respect to similar instruments; and, in calculating such time, public holidays shall be excluded.
