Summary
If a person who is handling the estate of someone who has died signs their own name on a promissory note, bill of exchange, or cheque, they are personally responsible for paying it. This personal responsibility applies unless they clearly write on the document that their liability is limited only to the value of the assets they received from the deceased person's estate.

A legal representative of a deceased person who signs his name to a promissory note, bill of exchange or cheque is liable personally thereon unless he expressly limits his liability to the extent of the assets received by him as such.
