CHAPTER IV ABETMENT OF AND ATTEMPT TO COMMIT AN OFFENCE

Summary
A person who abets, or encourages or helps in, any offence under this Act will be punished with the same punishment that is provided for that offence, but only if the abetted act is actually committed as a result of that abetment.
The explanation clarifies that an act or offence is considered to be committed in consequence of abetment when it happens because of the instigation, or in pursuance of the conspiracy, or with the aid that together forms the abetment.
Official Text
Whoever abets any offence under this Act, if the act abetted is committed in consequence of the abetment, shall be punished with punishment provided for that offence.
Explanation.— An act or offence is said to be committed in consequence of abetment, when it is committed in consequence of the instigation, or in pursuance of the conspiracy or with the aid, which constitutes the abetment.
