Summary
If a person is accused or reasonably suspected of committing an offence under this Act, and a Prohibition Officer, a police officer, a Land Revenue officer, or any other authorised person asks for their name and residence, the person must provide it. If the person refuses to give this information, or gives a name or residence that the officer or authorised person has reason to believe is false, that officer or authorised person may arrest the person. The purpose of such an arrest is to find out the person's correct name and residence.

Any person who may be accused or reasonably suspected of committing an offence against this Act and who on demand made by any Prohibition Officer or any officer of the Police or Land Revenue Departments or by any other person authorised in that behalf refuses to give his name and residence or who gives a name or residence which such officer or person has reason to believe to be false, may be arrested by such officer or person in order that his name and residence may be ascertained.
