Summary

A person who is already serving a life sentence and commits murder will be punished with either the death penalty or imprisonment for life. In this context, imprisonment for life means the rest of that person’s natural life, not a fixed number of years.

Official Text

Whoever, being under sentence of imprisonment for life, commits murder, shall be punished with death or with imprisonment for life, which shall mean the remainder of that person’s natural life.
