BNSS Section 526 — Practising advocate not to sit as Magistrate in certain Courts

Summary

An advocate who appears as a lawyer in a particular Magistrate's court cannot also act as a Magistrate in that same court or in any other court that falls under the authority of that Magistrate's court. This rule prevents a conflict of interest where the same person would be both a lawyer and a judge in the same legal area.

Official Text

No advocate who practices in the Court of any Magistrate shall sit as a Magistrate in that Court or in any Court within the local jurisdiction of that Court.
