Summary

When a court imposes a fine under this Act, it has the discretion to direct that the entire fine, or any part of it, be used to cover the costs of the legal proceedings. Alternatively, the court may direct that the fine, or a portion of it, be paid as a reward to the person whose information led to the start of those proceedings.

The court imposing any fine under this Act may direct that the whole or any part thereof shall be applied in or towards payment of the costs of the proceedings, or in or towards the payment of a reward to the person on whose information the proceedings were instituted.
