Summary

Members of the consumer commission who were appointed just before the Finance Act, 2017 came into effect will keep working under the old Consumer Protection Act, 1986 and its rules. This means the new Act does not apply to them, and they continue as if the new law was never passed.

Official Text

The President and every other member appointed immediately before the commencement of section 177 of the Finance Act, 2017 (7 of 2017) shall continue to be governed by the provisions of the Consumer Protection Act, 1986 (68 of 1986) and the rules made there under as if this Act had not come into force.
