IEA Section 69 — Proof where no attesting witness found

Summary

If no witness who signed the document can be located, or if the document appears to have been signed in the United Kingdom, then the document must be proven in a specific way. You must show that at least one witness's signature is actually in that witness's own handwriting. You must also show that the signature of the person who made the document is in that person's own handwriting.

If no such attesting witness can be found, or if the document purports to have been executed in the United Kingdom, it must be proved that the attestation of one attesting witness at least is in his handwriting, and that the signature of the person executing the documents is in the handwriting of that person.
