IEA Section 70 — Admission of execution by party to attested document

Chapter 5

Civil

Summary

If a person who signed a document that was witnessed admits that they signed it, that admission is enough to prove the document was properly signed, even if the law requires the document to be witnessed. This rule applies only against the person who made the admission.

Official Text

The admission of a party to an attested document of its execution by himself shall be sufficient proof of its execution as against him, though it be a document required by law to be attested.
