Summary

If someone commits extortion by making a person fear that they or someone else will be killed or seriously injured, that person is guilty of this offence. The punishment can be imprisonment for up to ten years, along with a fine. The court may decide the type of imprisonment and the amount of the fine.

Official Text

Whoever commits extortion by putting any person in fear of death or of grievous hurt to that person or to any other, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to ten years, and shall also be liable to fine.
