Summary

If someone, in order to commit extortion, makes another person afraid that they or someone else will be killed or seriously hurt, or even tries to create that fear, that person can be sent to prison for up to seven years and also fined. The law covers both actually putting someone in such fear and attempting to do so.

Official Text

Whoever in order to the committing of extortion, puts or attempts to put any person in fear of death or of grievous hurt to that person or to any other, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to seven years, and shall also be liable to fine.
