IPC Section 424 — Dishonest or fraudulent removal or concealment of property

Summary

If a person, acting dishonestly or fraudulently, hides or moves away any property belonging to themselves or someone else, or helps someone else to do so, or gives up a legal right to a payment or claim they are entitled to, they can be punished. The punishment can be imprisonment for up to two years, a fine, or both.

Official Text

Whoever dishonestly or fraudulently conceals or removes any property of himself or any other person, or dishonestly or fraudulently assists in the concealment or removal thereof, or dishonestly releases any demand or claim to which he is entitled, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both.
