Summary

Sub-section (1) allows the Central Government to officially appoint a Controller of Certifying Authorities for the purposes of this Act. The government may also, through the same or a later official notification, appoint as many Deputy Controllers, Assistant Controllers, other officers, and employees as it considers appropriate.

Sub-section (2) states that the Controller must carry out their duties under this Act while following the general control and directions of the Central Government.

Sub-section (3) provides that Deputy Controllers and Assistant Controllers will perform the tasks assigned to them by the Controller, and they will work under the general supervision and control of the Controller.

Sub-section (4) says that the qualifications, experience, and terms and conditions of service for the Controller, Deputy Controllers, Assistant Controllers, other officers, and employees will be determined by the Central Government through prescribed rules.

Sub-section (5) specifies that the head office and branch offices of the Controller's office will be located at places chosen by the Central Government, and these offices may be established wherever the government thinks fit.

Sub-section (6) requires that there be an official seal for the Office of the Controller.

Official Text

(1) The Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint a Controller of Certifying Authorities for the purposes of this Act and may also by the same or subsequent notification appoint such number of Deputy Controllers 3[, Assistant Controllers, other officers and employees] as it deems fit.

(2) The Controller shall discharge his functions under this Act subject to the general control and directions of the Central Government.

(3) The Deputy Controllers and Assistant Controllers shall perform the functions assigned to them by the Controller under the general superintendence and control of the Controller.

(4) The qualifications, experience and terms and conditions of service of Controller, Deputy Controllers 1[,Assistant Controllers, other officers and employees] shall be such as may be prescribed by the Central Government.

(5) The Head Office and Branch Office of the office of the Controller shall be at such places as the Central Government may specify, and these may be established at such places as the Central Government may think fit.

(6) There shall be a seal of the Office of the Controller.
