CHAPTER XIII OFFENCES, PENALTIES AND PROCEDURE

Summary

Whoever allows a race or trial of speed of any kind between motor vehicles in a public place, or takes part in such a race or trial, without the written consent of the State Government, is committing an offence. This applies to both the person who permits the race and the person who participates in it.

For a first offence, the punishment can be imprisonment for up to three months, or a fine of up to five thousand rupees, or both.

For a subsequent offence, the punishment can be imprisonment for up to one year, or a fine of up to ten thousand rupees, or both.

Whoever without the written consent of the State Government permits or takes part in a race or trial of speed of any kind between motor vehicles in any public place shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 8[three months], or with fine 9[of five thousand rupees], or with both 10[and for a subsequent offence shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine of ten thousand rupees; or with both].
