Summary
When the law requires a promissory note or bill of exchange to be formally protested, the notice given to the parties must be a notice of that protest, not a notice of dishonour. This notice is given in the same way and under the same conditions as a notice of dishonour. The notary public who makes the protest is allowed to give this notice.

When a promissory note or bill of exchange is required by law to be protested, notice of such protest must be given instead of notice of dishonour, in the same manner and subject to the same conditions; but the notice may be given by the notary public who makes the protest.
