Summary

If a bill of exchange is meant to be paid at a place different from where the drawee lives, and the drawee has already refused to accept it, the bill can be formally recorded as unpaid at that specified payment place. This can be done without first presenting the bill again to the drawee. However, this step is only allowed if the bill has not been paid by the time it becomes due.

All bills of exchange drawn payable at some other place than the place mentioned as the residence of the drawee, and which are dishonoured by non-acceptance, may, without further presentment to the drawee, be protested for non-payment, in the place specified for payment, unless paid before or at maturity.
