Summary

If a promissory note, bill of exchange, or cheque says it must be paid at a specific place and nowhere else, it has to be shown for payment at that exact place. This step is required to hold any person responsible under the instrument. If it is not presented at that specified location, that party cannot be charged with liability.

A promissory note, bill of exchange or cheque made, drawn or accepted payable at a specified place and not elsewhere must, in order to charge any party thereto, be presented for payment at that place.
