Sale of Goods Act Section 22 — Specific goods in a deliverable state, when the seller has to do anything thereto in order to ascertain price
CHAPTER III EFFECTS OF THE CONTRACT — Transfer of property as between seller and buyer
Commercial / Corporate
Summary
This section deals with a situation where specific goods are ready to be handed over, but the price has not yet been fixed because it depends on some action the seller must take, such as weighing, measuring, or testing the goods. In such a case, ownership of the goods does not transfer to the buyer until the seller has completed that action and the buyer has been informed that it is done. Until both of these steps happen, the buyer does not become the owner, even though the goods are in a deliverable state.
Official Text
