CHAPTER VII OF OFFENCES AGAINST THE STATE

Summary

Whoever wages war against the Government of India, or tries to wage such war, or helps someone else wage such war, will be punished with death or imprisonment for life, and will also be liable to pay a fine.

The illustration clarifies that if a person joins an insurrection against the Government of India, that person has committed the offence described in this section.

Official Text

Whoever wages war against the Government of India, or attempts to wage such war, or abets the waging of such war, shall be punished with death, or imprisonment for life and shall also be liable to fine.
