No. Orjur is used by advocates, judges, in-house legal counsel, law students, legal researchers, and compliance officers. The platform is designed to be useful across the full spectrum of legal professionals.

How accurate is Lex?

Lex retrieves from verified Indian legal databases but can occasionally make errors — especially on very recent or niche judgments. Always verify citations against primary sources before relying on them in court. Lex does not constitute legal advice — consult a qualified advocate for specific matters.

How current is the case law database?

The database is updated on a rolling basis. Supreme Court judgments typically appear within a few business days of publication in the official law report; High Court judgments follow shortly after.

How do I search for a case?

Go to Case Search and enter keywords, party names, citation numbers, or legal provisions. Lex will retrieve and rank the most relevant judgments. You can filter by court, date range, and bench type.

Can I search by statute or section number?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Enter the section number and Act name — e.g. "Section 302 IPC" or "Section 138 NI Act" — and Orjur will return judgments interpreting that provision.

How do I find the latest judgment on a topic?

Use the date filter in Case Search, or ask Lex directly — e.g., "Latest Supreme Court judgment on arbitration clause enforcement". Lex will surface the most recent relevant judgments.

Can I find judgments by a specific judge?

Yes. Search by judge name in the Case Search filters, or ask Lex — e.g., "Judgments by Justice D.Y. Chandrachud on fundamental rights".

Does Orjur cover district court orders?

Not currently. The database covers High Courts and the Supreme Court. District court coverage is on the roadmap.

Can I download a full judgment?

Yes. From the judgment detail page, click Export → Download PDF. This downloads an Orjur-formatted PDF with the full judgment text and AI summary.

How do I register?

Click Register on the homepage. Enter your name, email, and password, then verify your email address. Your free Trial account activates immediately — no credit card needed.

Can I sign up with Google?

Yes. Click "Continue with Google" on the Register or Login page. Orjur only accesses your name and email address from Google.

I forgot my password. What do I do?

Click "Forgot password?" on the login page. Enter your registered email and check your inbox for a reset link. The link is valid for 30 minutes.

Can I change my registered email address?

Email changes can be requested from Settings → Profile. You will need to verify the new email address before it takes effect. For immediate assistance, contact connect@9th-direction.com.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account and type DELETE to confirm, or email connect@9th-direction.com. All data is permanently removed within 30 days. This action is irreversible.

Individual accounts are single-user. To add team members, upgrade to a Pro, Premium, or Enterprise plan, which includes multi-user seats under a firm workspace.

Is the Trial plan really free?

Yes — the Trial plan is free, no credit card required, and runs for 14 days. It includes 20 AI queries per month. When you exhaust your quota or your trial ends, you can upgrade to keep going.

How do I upgrade my plan?

Go to Settings → Billing, or click Upgrade in the navigation bar. Choose a plan and complete checkout via Razorpay. The upgrade takes effect immediately.

Within a session, Lex has full context of the conversation. Across sessions, Lex does not automatically carry over context, but you can paste relevant excerpts from earlier chats.

Yes. Your queries, saved cases, and Lex conversations are private to your account. We do not share individual query data with third parties or use them for advertising.

Yes. Orjur complies with the IT Act 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (DPDP Act). All data is stored on servers located in India.
